Meet Our Instructors
Meet our instructors. Learn a little about them and where they’ve been in business analytics. Every member of our team is a senior, bona-fide expert with at least 10 years of experience in the field.
September Clementin
September is a Bay Area native with over 20 years of experience in business intelligence and data analytics. Determined to learn everything about everything, she studied chemical engineering to linguistics. She graduated from the University of California, Davis with a BA in English/Sociology and served as a technical writer until quickly realizing that while she was a natural at writing volumes of technical documents, she was born for technical problem solving. She went on to serve as a lead Business Systems Analyst, HRIS Analyst, Procurement Analyst and Financial Systems Analyst before taking on the role of Senior BI Consultant with Senturus in 2007.
“September is a great trainer! She is patient and even though there are varying degrees of skill level in the class, she makes certain everyone is understanding the courseware.”

She has helped 50+ public and private sector clients with large scale business intelligence implementations including dashboard design, interactive performance metrics development and data modeling. Patrick Powers
“Best Instructor Ever! It was extremely helpful that Patrick was not only an instructor, but a real-world expert.”
Patrick has over 25 years of experience in data science, business intelligence and data analytics. He is a Tableau Certified Associate and a Cognos expert whose product experience goes back to version 6. He is also versed in Actuate, Hyperion and Business Objects. His certifications include multiple programming languages, including Java and C++, and database certification (MS SQL).
In his early years in BI, Patrick served as Senior Director of Engineering at Instill where he was instrumental in the development of the first wide-spread data analytics use in the foodservice industry. Patrick’s work helped improve food service functionality for clients including Applebee’s, Yum Foods and Subway. Patrick also served as Senior Director of Business Intelligence at the consumer division of Experian where he managed the team that brought insight to all groups including retention, sales, finance and IT.
Patrick has been with Senturus since 2009. During that time he has helped transform analytics for many clients across multiple verticals including healthcare, retail consumer sales, global finance, mortgage and industrial machinery. As a Senturus instructor, he brings both practical hands-on experience as well as over 20 years of classroom experience.
Steve Wullschleger
Steve’s background in BI, operations and finance spans 30 years. During that time, he’s led numerous business analytics initiatives using Microsoft data tools and has watched the platform evolve from his initial use of v1 of SQL Server and Microsoft Access. He brings a deep familiarity with the various capabilities and components of the Microsoft BI platform and understanding of how to best leverage them. Steve developed our Power BI curriculum and manages our training practice.
Steve is a Bay Area native with both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Stanford University. He, his wife and son enjoy camping and skiing.
Michael Weinhauer
Michael has been designing, delivering and selling analytics solutions for nearly the entirety of his 20+ year career. Starting out as a financial analyst, he found his way into technology via Oracle. After working with a couple startups that failed to make him a multi-millionaire, he landed at Cognos, spending 10 years in pre-sales and pre-sales management, including two years at SPSS. He then joined SAP as an account executive selling HANA and SAP analytics solutions. After working in partnership with Senturus for many of those years, he joined the team in 2014, spearheading the build out of Senturus’ Tableau practice and later taking on the mantle of product manager for Analytics Connector, bringing it to market in early 2015.
“The Senturus instructor displayed deep experience in the product set and the ability to comprehend our business-specific questions, from a highly cross-functional team, and relate them to product features.”
A 25-year Bay Area veteran, he is married with two boys and a German Shepherd. When not designing, implementing or teaching analytics solutions, Michael enjoys spending time with his family – running, biking, camping, skiing and traveling. He is an avid musician who plays piano and loves live music, as well as eating and drinking his way through the Bay Area’s diverse food scene.
Monica Van Loon
Monica started her IT journey while earning a Business MIS degree from Fresno State University. While still in school, she was hired as an intern (programmer) working for the United States Air Force. After graduating, she quietly moved up the ranks to Chief Database Administrator for US Air Force Procurement. There, she worked on all aspects of budget and funds reporting, personally delivering the reports to her bosses – the colonel and the general. Not to age her, but she did what we call “analytics” before it was a thing. From there, Monica was recruited by Oracle, where she worked for 10 years. She delved into all aspects of Oracle database, Oracle Financials and Oracle data warehouse technology before taking time off to raise her kids.
After the kids drove her crazy, Monica decided to return to work. Delighted to realize that during her child sabbatical the analytics world had not changed all that much, and eager to learn new technology, she delved into her favorite product of all time: Tableau!
Now Monica specializes in helping to structure the backend data and making visualizations shine. She has a great eye for design (her favorite pastime), which is really useful when building compelling and beautiful dashboards. In her time at Senturus, Monica has instructed over 1000 people in Tableau and Tableau with Salesforce. She is also an active member of the Tableau community.
Todd Schuman
“Your knowledge of the subject was amazing. And, you made each section fun and held my attention throughout the entire course. I have taken a lot of training the past and I can say this one is BY FAR the best.”
From his academic degree to his career track record, Todd is a dyed-in-the-wool data nerd whose 17+ years of analytics experience crosses multiple industries. Armed with a BS in Computer Science from Lehigh University (Bethlehem, PA), Todd got his first job in Washington DC where he used ASP and SQL to build a web-based weapons budgeting system for the Department of Defense. When this homegrown, hand-coded project was eventually replaced with IBM Enterprise Planner and Cognos Series 7, the seeds for Todd’s expertise in Cognos were planted. Over the next several years and through multiple upgrades, Todd gained valuable insights into the upgrade process and real-world experience with system architecture that went beyond basic documentation.
Fast forward to today. Todd has added Tableau and Power BI to his tool belt and has applied his expertise in many industries, including health care, education, retail and telecom. He was the reporting project lead for the HealthCare.Gov data warehouse and for the No Child Left Behind projects for the Kentucky and Iowa Departments of Education. Other notable clients include Carfax, Wegmans and Verizon.
Todd’s diverse subject matter expertise means he wears many hats at Senturus. He takes turns running the Install, Upgrade, and Performance practice, developing BI reports and dashboards, mentoring clients on BI best practices, and training the next generation of BI users. When not working, Todd enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, traveling and taking part in the craft beer revolution taking place across the country.
